Likes: good weight, pattern, color
Dislikes: not crazy about the cerakote - rough feeling and delicate (one drop on a concrete floor caused small chips) very annoying to reassemble - the standoffs rotate in the OG scales in a way they don’t in hogue’s scales.
Major flaw: the pivot holes are not well designed. In the Hogue scales I had perfect drop shut closing and easy opening with no slop or movement, open or closed. With OG I have noticeable side to side movement when closed, even with a good lock up open. The pivot moves up and down in the hole. Fixing the slop kills opening and closing. I’m going to experiment with trying to find some thicker washers.
Please reach out to our CS team at support@originalgoat.com as that does not sound normal as we have never had the pivots move while installed on any of our RSK, so we would love to be able to either assist with that installation or bring in your knife for our fitment service and get you taken care of properly, we can even get those scales recoated and fix up that fall damage, as concrete is never friendly to those GOATs!
The Stocky OG GOAT scales for the Doug Ritter RSK are a great improvement to a great knife!! A very comfortable, rugged and classy upgrade!!! I highly recommend OG GOAT scales!! They’re made with precise machining and will improve and enhance the knives that they’re applied to!!!
They are perfect. The fit and finish is perfect. Even the color I ordered matched.. The only thing that I wish they would do is put direction or a link to the direction. OG gives you 4 new screws but doesnt tell you were they go. I looked on the web site and through the paper work. Apparently they are on the web site but I never found them. So a link printed on the paperwork would make things easier. So I found the instalation to be a little tricky. The OG Scales and Backspacer fit and look better than factory
