How We Work

How Original GOAT Works: Production, Shipping & Availability

Everything you need to know before you order—no guesswork, no surprises.

Small-batch manufacturing, built around better products...not an assembly line.

Original GOAT designs and manufactures aftermarket components for a growing range of knife platforms. Unlike mass-produced accessories, our products are manufactured in-house in Tallahassee, Florida, with fitment, finishing, and quality checked throughout the process.

As we have grown, we have also completely redesigned how our shop operates. Our new CNC and dynamic fixturing system allows multiple platforms to share the same production equipment efficiently, giving us the ability to expand production without dedicating an individual machine to every product line.

1. We Manufacture in Batches

Small-batch manufacturing lets us focus on quality, efficiency, and variety.

Original GOAT products are manufactured in organized production batches based on platform, product family, material, texture, and configuration. Rather than continuously producing every product we offer, our dynamic fixturing system allows us to efficiently rotate products through our CNC production schedule and replenish inventory as each production run is completed.

When an item is available for purchase, the base product is already in stock — no pre-order or production wait required.

Want to make it yours? Many products may also offer optional finishing or modification services. These customizations are completed after purchase and will add the processing time shown with the selected service.

This allows us to offer the best of both worlds: ready-to-purchase inventory with the ability to add select Original GOAT customization when available.

HOW WE BUILD

PLATFORM → PRODUCT FAMILY → BATCH PRODUCTION → FINISHING → INVENTORY

HOW YOU BUY

IN-STOCK PRODUCT → OPTIONAL MODIFICATIONS / FINISHING → FINAL QC → SHIPPING

2. One Platform Can Have Several Production Stages

A knife platform being Active does not mean every Original GOAT product for that platform is being manufactured simultaneously.

Scales, pocket clips, backspacers, conversion kits, and accessories may require different tooling, fixtures, materials, machining operations, or engineering work. Each Product Family therefore moves through its own production cycle.

For Example:

AD20/AD20S/AD20I Platform - Active Platform

Product Family - Production Status

  • Pocket Clips - In Production
  • Scales - Upcoming
  • Backspacers - Upcoming
  • Conversion Kit (Hybrid) - Engineering

This is why our Order Status page tracks production at the Platform + Product Family level.

3. Why Fixturing & Engineering Matter

Before a product can be machined, the machine has to know exactly where that product is.

CNC manufacturing requires precise fixturing that holds every part in an exact, repeatable position. Even very small alignment differences can affect dimensions, texture placement, fitment, or function.

Original GOAT's new dynamic fixturing system was developed so multiple platforms can efficiently share our CNC equipment. Rather than dedicating an entire machine to each platform, new products can be added through purpose-built fixture plates that work within the same production system.

That transition requires each existing product to be re-fixtured and validated once — but gives us a dramatically more scalable manufacturing system moving forward.

What this means going forward: Adding production capacity no longer means rebuilding the entire manufacturing process around another dedicated machine. Once another CNC is added to the system, validated fixture plates can move into that additional capacity with a much shorter setup process and immediately increase the capacity of ALL currently produced products.

4. Customize Your In-Stock Product

Start with an in-stock product. Then make it yours.

Most Original GOAT products are now sold from completed inventory rather than manufactured after your order is placed. Depending on the platform, material, texture, and product selected, certain customization and finishing services may be available to add to an in-stock item.

These services are completed after purchase and add processing time before your product is ready to ship. Available services and their estimated additional processing times will be clearly identified with the applicable product before purchase.

HOW YOUR ORDER MOVES

IN-STOCK PRODUCT → FINISHING / MODIFICATION → FINAL QC → SHIPPING*

*Only when an optional post-production service is selected. Orders without additional services move directly from in-stock inventory through final QC and fulfillment.
