The Microtech MSI quickly became my favorite go-to work knife over the last year. I opted for polymer scales to save some cash in anticipation of aftermarket scales coming to the market. I waited...heard rumors...waited some more and then Original Goat made the announcement! I immediately purchased an aluminum set in Armor Black Cerakote in the Gunstock configuration. My order was placed when the shop was in the process of being moved so it took quite awhile for their arrival. Also, I opted for the lanyard hole delete and custom jimping so I created the delay with my choices. Which is the first part of the review...not only can you choose from a variety of configuration patterns with OG, but you can get very specific with the scales themselves. I find that to be a step above most other scale manufacturers as usually the pattern is your only choice option. The quality is the next part of the review which is absolutely fantastic. Most of the knives I own are titanium or aftermarket titanium scales, but the quality and weight on these aluminum ones are incredible. The workmanship is amazing and this is how the MSI was meant to be carried. The spacing around the thumbhole is laser accurate and the way they feel in the hand is perfect. It goes without saying that all of the issues with the polymer scales are completely eradicated. My 195 MSI with the OG scales feels like a 500 knife. Yes, they are that good.
